I Love this Post

Behind the Box Score, where we saw the beast in Bryant
By Kelly Dwyer
Los Angeles Lakers 126, New York 117
What can we say about Kobe beyond what we tried to scrawl down last night? I'm just pleased beyond belief that I get to witness two different players in my lifetime with the work ethic, drive, and talent that Bryant and Michael Jordan possess.
That's the thing that links these two. It's not the haircut, it's not the shoes, and it's not the fadeaways. The thing about MJ that Kobe so closely approximates is that willingness to work harder and care more about the final outcome more than anyone else in this league. Nobody even touches Kobe when it comes to preparation, and diligence, and appreciation for the craft. It's not even close.
The game, besides Kobe, was quite fun. Los Angeles' defense made a point to get out on shooters, but they also let some stray Knicks get away long enough to miss some open shots (Al Harrington, 2-6 from long range), or have several rim in and out (Chris Duhon, 1-6).
And in the fourth quarter, with the Kobester on the bench, it was Pau Gasol (31 points, 14 rebounds, five assists, two blocks) and Trevor Ariza (13 and 8 off the bench) that helped the Lakers sustain that lead. Pau may have had the best game of his career, my eyes immediately boggle upon seeing his line in the box score, before moving upward to see that "61" and thinking that someone may have typed the wrong number in.
Then you remember that Kobe played last night, and it all makes sense.

Hilarious... This is going to be my kid.
"Because I'm not a Celtic fan," she replied.
The teacher, still shocked, asked, "Well, if you are not a Celtic fan, then who are you a fan of?"
"I am a Lakers fan, and proud of it," Mary replied.
The teacher could not believe her ears.
"Mary, why are you a Lakers fan?"
"Because my mom is a Lakers fan and my dad is a Lakers fan, so I'm a Lakers fan too!"
"Well," said the teacher in an obviously annoyed tone, "that is no reason for you to be a Lakers fan. You don't have to be just like your parents all of the time. What if your mom was a prostitute and your dad was a drug addict, what would you be then?"
"Then," Mary smiled, "Then I'd be a Celtic fan".

ARIZA!!!!

My man trev is really going off this season. He is becoming the spark we need off the bench. While his athleticism and ability to get the basket is great, his defense is what has stood out to me most this season. My grandad gave him the nickname "the theif" because of how many steals he has been getting lately. That says nothing about all his hustle plays he has had this season, where he has made plays where there seems to be no play. Keep it up Trev. I say he makes one of the defensive teams this year.
How bout those Lakers!
This is a new season and my Lakers are off to a great start. We are currently 31-8 and on top of the Western Conference. Way to go guys. The big three are really living up to all the hype, and much props goes to Lamar for coming off the bench and leading that second unit. I'm expecting nothing but great things this season!

We Made It!!! The MVP Award Finally in the Right Hands

Kobe finally what he has long deserved: The NBA's Most Valuable Player award. I must say watching the press conference brought a tear to my eye. Kobe has deserved this award for a long time now. The league has finally done him justice. Kobe was quite modest when he said he thought he would never receive this award. I would turn from the NBA and watch European basketball if he never earned a MVP award in his career. This is just a start to many more. Congratulations Kobe you deserved nothing less. And as Kobe said in the press conference, "We made it!"

Most Hated Great Player
Kobe Bean Bryant, AKA The Black Mamba, is the best player in NBA and has been for the past four years. His critics (haters) can argue all they want, but when it comes down to it he is the best. I say he is the best not just because I am a die hard Laker fan, and because he just so happens to be my all time favorite player. I say it because he has paid his dues to start earning some respect. I would definitely have to crown Kobe the most hated great player.
